Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th place, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
