Vinted Users Share Frustration About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
